03:56 – Manaka in a cardboard box (top screenshot) is a parody of one cosplayer who became popular on the Internet by wearing a cardboard box written with the word “Gundam” on the front in an anime convention. Here is the cosplayer in question. Okay, I lied! Here’s the cosplayer in question, for real this time! Hey, it’s certainly far better than the Justice Gundam cosplay!
07:13 – Though Mana said it differently, her facial expression, vocal tone and the phrase “Exactly as planned!” are references to Light Yagami’s famous line “Exactly as planned!” or “Just as planned!” (to those who watched the fansubs) in Death Note. To those who haven’t seen Death Note, it means, “Prepare to meet your maker!” Nah, just kidding!
19:11 – The Slobbering Triumvirate executed the “Jet Stream Moé” to overwhelm Sumi. The attack move is a direct reference to the Jet Stream Attack by the Black Tri-Stars using their MS-09 Dom in Mobile Suit Gundam. The attack is executed by moving in at high speed, the trio lines up one behind the other, forming a lethal simultaneous triple assault in which two of the members attack with ranged weapons and the last one attacks with a melee weapon.
