It’s kinda amusing how Shinra can tell how Celty’s feeling without her head. That’s how much he loves her, huh? *amused smile*
Lolz! That cafe Walker dashed into– that’s a maid cafe, right? XD
Pfft! Leeks! Sigh, reminds me of MikuMiku…
Anri’s right… I’ve never seen Kida like this before. And just when I was thinking, ‘aww, what a nice episode, especially with Kida and Mikado and Celty and Shinra’ everything gets turned on its head. Oh well.
A vacent lot… Just like Yuuko’s shop! When some one dosn’t need it, it appears to be an empty lot! But, I’m sure it wasn’t in Ikebukuro…
So this kid with the fireworks, he was Mika’s original boyfriend? Hmm.
Lolz at that weird sushi. ”Cream cheese”? So that’s what happens when you don’t have any fish…
Oh gods, Shinra’s fortune was just too much. While Celty’s was “you shall find what you’re looking for”, his was “your love shalt not come true”. Now that’s just way too sad. People find ways, you know…
…… I was right! I was right, I can’t believe it! Celty’s head really IS on Mika’s body! I… Now that’s just creepy. Seiji is in love with Celty’s head? O_O
The language at the end was what? Welsh? Dutch? Irish? I fail completely. Though I’m very surprised that I was right in my prediction from episode 6. And that’s why during the OP the camera stops on Mika after Celty with no name because they’re the same person!
So next Ep is Namie, huh? Well, this should be interesting. I wonder how Seiji would act if Celty’s head was on her body instead of Mika’s… Also, it’s kinda odd how Celty’s body has a mind of it’s own and her head only contains mostly memories. Well, since she’s a Dullahan… Izaya seems to be aware of what she’s looking for, as mentioned in episode 6. Hmm. Also, yes, I’m finally catching up! Only two more episodes left until I’m up to speed.
The Anime Club on JCC Olean campus is getting ready to attend a convention called Anime Punch. The convention runs April 1-4, and at the convention the attendees will enjoy watching a plethora of anime shows, a concert, and many different people dressed up as some of their favorite characters.
To fund the event, Anime Club members are raising funds selling candles, herb dip mixes, soaps, and a few other items. If you are interested in helping this club, please see one of the Anime Club members. Also as a note, there is no tax or shipping on any of the items.
I have been watching this anime recently, I won’t get into the studio or years or all that jazz, if you want that you can just check out ANN. I basically will just say what i thought of this anime. In no way am i worthy of giving technical reviews, however on that I feel that alot of people aren’t and some people just want to know what is good.
This anime is actually one of my favorites by far. I’ve watched it all the way through once before and the story is incredible, and on top of that there is a large amount of different personalities within the main characters throughout the story so they blend well(or unwell in their case) The story is basically about a high school girl named Yoko who finds herself in front of a blond man named Keiki who promises to protect her, and tells her she is from another world, and she gets taken away by him. upon arrival Keiki(the blond man) is gone and she is all alone.
From there the story starts and she has a long struggle in this new world. she meets some new friends, makes several enemies and slowly finds out that she was brought to this world because she is a queen. However she has to decide whether or not to stay and help the people of this kingdom, or go back home to her friends and family because she feels she is unworthy of running a kingdom and at the same time she just misses her family.
This anime has 45 episodes and a very deep story, I would strongly suggest that anyone who reads this, and is into anime should check it out.
Again, this is my first kind of “Review”, and i use that word very loosely because i’m really just trying to let people know about the story, so please go easy on me!
Censorship has once again become a hot topic in the anime world as of late when FUNimation announced that they had acquired the license to Dance in the Vampire Bund. People rejoiced, until FUNi subsequently released a statement saying that they were cutting out scenes which are not relevant to the plot that ‘may possibly’ offend ’some’ people. Worse than that, they are making these cuts on the TV aired versions AND on the official DVD and Blu-Ray releases. This came as a shock, especially when they also announced they were still releasing Strike Witches uncensored.
Clearly, this did not sit well with the fans. Many people declared they were boycotting FUNi, some promised to simply boycott Bund and all other future FUNi releases that will be censored, and some even openly admitted they agreed with FUNi’s decision to censor this show, which I find to be just insane.
I will point you to my blog on the anime industry where I discussed this issue previously. I explained there how censorship really turns fans off and makes them reluctant to buy official releases. FUNimation handled censorship the right way previously with Yu Yu Hakusho. They censored it on television, and then released both censored and uncensored DVDs of the show so that the viewers could choose which to buy. While companies don’t have the money to release anime this way nowadays, that choice still makes it very clear that FUNimation is aware of how censoring negatively impacts their sales. While I am not surprised that yet another anime is going to be censored, the fact that they are doing this on the DVD and Blu-Ray releases as well is something I find downright shocking. Why in the world would they do such a thing?
Well, many people have blamed it on the Handley case. For those that don’t know, Handley is a man that was recently convicted in court for crossing state lines with pornographic material in the form of loli manga. Many people have theorizied that because of this high-profile case, FUNi is being extra careful to not release anything that may be deemed illegal or inappropriate by authorities or parents. This pisses me off.
Why? Because once again this falls into one of the most insanely frustrating things in this world: Parents and officials blaming outside content for the actions of a person. If a kid watches a violent movie and then goes out and shoots up his school, it has nothing to do with the movie, it’s the kid that’s the problem. Rather than try and mask anything that could be twisted into something negative, we should be working on getting help for those people who would take those ideas and use them in wrong and hurtful ways.
Parents would rather blame these kinds of things for their children’s actions than admit that something is wrong with their child, or that they perhaps didn’t parent correctly. Officials would rather point at a manga and say that it is the reason that a person may sexually assault a young girl than try to get said person some help and try to figure out why he would ever have such tendencies in the first place (I am NOT saying that this was Handley’s intention, I am using it as an example). It’s all about putting the blame on someone else, and it instills fear into our country and causes us to be overly-sensitive about what we expose ourselves to entertainment-wise.
So what am I doing about it? Well first off I am not boycotting FUNimation. I think that is just silly and will only serve to drive yet another anime company out of business. However, I will most certainly not be buying Dance in the Vampire Bund from FUNi. I am not really a fan of the show, but even if I was, I would not be purchasing it because I am adamant about my opinion that censorship is wrong. It infringes upon our right to say what we think, it stifles creativity, and it keeps those who wish to view the censored content from getting the full range of what said content has to offer.
An Addition
I was just about to post this when a friend of mine tweeted to me about a 3 year old girl who died when she accidentally shot herself with a handgun. Her father said that they owned a Wii remote shaped like a gun and she mixed the two up. Rather than question why the hell her father had a handgun within a 3 year old’s reach, the media is now pointing at the video game industry. It is this exact kind of thing that I am talking about here. It seems as if the media will do anything to not have to look at the grim reality of faulty parents in this world.
Feel free to comment if you wish with your own opinions!
And finally, af one year of waiting the nxt Seiyuu awards is here. Or should i say over 3 days ago XD. I didnt even know T_T. Due to the period i was rushing projects XD. Well nevertheless i shall report a bit abt it.
As always, there are around 10-11 awards to be given, but this year there are new awards such as Fukuyama Award [for bringing media attention to the profession], Synergy Award, Merit Awards, Special Accomplishment, Kids/family Award.
Well anyway i will jus put the picture that i know who they voice as…
Ok lets start. 1st up:
Starring Female Seiyuu: Sawashiro Miyuki / 沢城みゆき
Yes its Miyuki who claims the Main Female Lead this year with Canaan! I feel proud of my Canaan deck rite now lol, that prove the fact it haven lost for the past few days XD. Well shes more popular in other series but i only know her through Utaware and CANAAN. Hmm i must say jus by this two examples are enough to show her talent in voice acting. Aruru being a cute girl and Canaan being a hot-blooded female character, she does her voice acting very well by switching between 2 different voice easily. Hmm thats wad i respect out of a voice actor: A ability to switch wad type of voice they speak to fit the character they voice. Congratz Miyuki-chan!
Starring Male Seiyuu: Daisuke Ono
OBJECTION!
So af Fukuyama Jun, is he going to be the nxt living legend?! Well anyway, i don watch Kuroshisuji so i don care abt some BL anime. Well as all character he voice, he is quite the Ikemen himself. Well i only know he voiced Itsuki for wad hes popular for lol, Ushiromiya Battler and Kai from Seto no Hanayome. Hmm his voice brings kind of a charisma type of personality into his character. Jus like Itsuki i found his voice fits those Ikemen character perfectly . Ok stop i m not a gay lol. But yes indeed his potential is great. Congratz.
Abt Inoue Kikuko i know nothing abt her, don blame me or anything did some searching and totally duno her.
BUT up nxt is…
YES! My lovely Hocchan got the female supporting award! おめでとうございます、ほっちゃん!
Aww speaking of Horie Yui, i think shes my 1st ever crush on a Seiyuu since i 1st touch anime and anison. Hmm since then i got no money and haven work, i let her down by not buying her stuff T_T. But now its different. Anyway Hocchan’s voice is meant for those cute and lovely character like Maria. And of course she voiced a lot a lot of character too many to say. Ranging of cute girls to high school girls to even drunk lol. And i will always love her voice acting and her singing also. Hocchan BANZAI!
Co-starring Male Seiyuu: Namikawa Daisuke , Miki Shin-ichiro
Ok…once again i duno whoes Namikawa Daisuke so…
But for Miki Shinichiro, i kind of know him from Ryuusei Date, Lockon Stratos and Kruz Weber.
From wad i can tell, his voice is QUALITY. Yes from Ryuusei alone i can feel his hot-bloodedness lol. Well anyway he has a record of the 3rd highest number of roles to voice af Gai and Hayashibara Megumi. Hmm he voices almost all mecha shows so those who like Mecha will know him. Anyway, congratz again.
Female New Face: Itou Kanae , Toyosaki Aki
Yes!!! Aki-chan got the Best Newcomer Award. Well i knew she would get it. Hmm…Perhaps many people only know her from K-on(Those K-on fags noob), i know her by her singing(Sphere) and many other roles she voice in like Lisa and Kana. Hmm i must say her voice can pretty much switch into multi personality like the blurish Yui, to a sweet gal like Risa and a loli like Kana lol. I jus enjoy listening to her voice very much. Hope she could go higher and higher. Nxt Tomatsu Haruka in the making . Congratz.
For Itou Kanae, i first knew her from Shugo Chara(O the bad memories T_T). I think everyone knows her through that lol. At that time shes jus a newbie at voicing and i must say af hearing her voicing for EP 1 i thought: Wth?! This gals voice sux. THEN the nxt time i hear her as Saten i thought: Whos this gal’s voice. I went to look up and…WTF?! ITOU KANAE?! IT TOTALLY DIFFERENT. It seems she progress from a noob to a pro in around 1year or so? I mena there voicing seems to be totally different person but its not. She progress too much for me to regonise. I think she deserve this prize. Congratz.
Male New Face: Atsushi Abe, Tomoaki Maeno
Duno whos Maeno Tomoaki again, but hes the shop assistance in K-on LMAO. And of cuz from Kobato, Kiyokazu Fujimoto and from White Album, Fuuji Touya. Other than that i duno -_-.
And its IMAGINE BRRRRRRRRREAKERRRR!!! Touma. So last year Accelerator got it and now Touma haha! Well i wont find his voice to be good. But his voice is interesting. Its doesnt really reflect his age -_-, but its jus he has this voice of a shounen more than any shounen lol. And also he voiced Kukai in Shugo(WHY AGAIN?!). Other than that, I thought his voice was normal -_-. Well Congratz anyway.
Personality Award: Masaya Onosaka
He voiced Vash the Stampede from Trigun. I nv watched Trigun as when i entered, Trigun was jus old XD. So…
Singing Award: Houkago Tea Time
Wtf is this man. Shouldnt like Nana-chan get the award _|_.
Wow Doreamon lives on. It lives inside me too, i mean hes(it) is jus the most interesting character u will see in the 80s haha. Cant get enough of Doreamon really.
Synergy Award: Gundam
Duno wads this award but gundam has been running for 20 years already, of course it deserve something.
Young fish-girl Ponyo lives in the sea with her parents and siblings. After going on a trip and wanting to see more of the world around her, Ponyo escapes and ends up being ashore in a small fishing town where she’s picked up by a young boy called Sosuke. The two become firm friends but Ponyo’s father wants her back – convinced that humans have kidnapped his daughter and wants to punish them for poisoning the oceans. Ponyo however wants to become human as she’s fallen in love with Sosuke.
Miyazaki’s latest masterpiece (his first in 5 years) could well be his most charming work to date. It’s a modern day fairytale which also carries an important environmental message with it. It leaves you with a big smile on your face after it’s ended. Pure Miyazaki magic. I just love the wonderful theme tune sung by 9 year old Nozomi Ohashi. I heartily recommend Ponyo.
Uiharu promises Haruue that she will find Edosaki again, while Mikoto and Kuroko confide in Telestina about the Level Upper incident and the initial experiment to analyze forced ability overload by Kihara Gensei. Telestina then infers that these overloaded esper students might be the cause of the Poltergeist even when unconscious. Uiharu lends a hand in searching for the unconscious kids but not before making known to Kuroko her infuriation at how she accuses not only Haruue but her friends of the incidents as well. The next day, Telestina alerts Mikoto and Saten to the fact that Kiyama has been released on bail. At the same time, Kuroko deduces from a report by Kihara that the Poltergeist events might be the result of an AIM diffusion field resonance effect by the unconscious kids, which could cause the total destruction of the city when taking into consideration all the espers in the Academy City.
On the same night, Mikoto sneaks into the abandoned lab used by Kihara in search of clues but finds Kiyama instead. She then learns the truth from the Getoka doctor, who has been taking care of the kids. Turns out that Kihara had exposed the kids to crystallized esper essence in order to create a Level 6, and Getoka doctor had bailed Kiyama out to aid him in his research to revive the kids. Unfortunately, each time they show signs of awakening, their AIM diffusion fields become irregular, resulting in the Poltergeist cases. Unknown to everyone, Telestina has been shadowing Mikoto with her MAR team, and she declares that she would take custody of the kids. Kiyama tries to resist, but is stopped by Mikoto who informs her that her attempts so far have not been working, and that the children are crying for help.
Hero Getoka to the rescue!!
Or so I would like to say, till Hero Getoka’s last line broke my heart. I could literally hear it shattering as Kiyama accepts the brutal reality that she can do nothing for the kids, despite how much she cares for them. Mikoto bears no ill will in her actions, but I sure hope handing the kids over to Telestina won’t be the worse option. Who knows, she might be secretly working for Kihara (yes, I still trust her not).
Uiharu’s powers is so WTF that I have no words. I must admit I see no use for it so far, and I would have thought that she has the ability to bend the computers to her will or something. Maybe when her level increases it would be shown that she can manipulate temperature, but now? Hmm… And as mentioned last episode, she’s not wrong to be overly-trusting, but treating someone she knows for < 1 week so many times better than friends she has been with for so long?
